At FINS, our foundation stage builds fundamental swimming and water safety skills for beginners. Children learn a strong foundation towards stroke acquisition.
At intermediate, the child progresses in swimming skills - focusing on technique, breathing, and comfort in water while introducing survival skills.
Short-distance swim with a focus on technique of streamlined body posture. The child learns proper breathing, effective kicks for propulsion, underwater vision, and water confidence.
A continuation of the skills learnt in Stage 1, focusing on refining techniques, developing new strokes, building greater confidence and breath control underwater.
The child develops water survival techniques and strokes which include breathing endurance, backstroke, side stroke and proper kicks for survival.
Challenges children with survival skills and distance swimming, emphasizing swimming proficiency while introducing essential water rescue techniques. Techniques taught include floatation, controlled diving, scenario and situational-based hands-on training.
Time to put your child's learning and techniques to the test! Swimmers will be guided to be competent in all SwimSafer elements, ready for certifications!
➤ STAGE 1: SWIMSAFER BRONZE
Learn the strokes required in SwimSafer Bronze, which include underwater swimming, survival (includes clothing swim), advanced water entry and throw rescue with board.
➤ STAGE 2: SWIMSAFER SILVER
Stroke proficiency with time test. Also guides child on longer underwater swim breathing control and other survival elements (includes clothing swim) required for level certification.
The final stage for swimmers, where a higher intensity of swimming, distance, and survival skills (includes clothing swim) is required.
Duration - 12 Months
Pre-squad prepares a child for advancing to competition level and/or acquiring lifesaving skills. Child will be proficient and certified with Singapore Swimming Proficiency Awards ("SSPA").
[Optional] Singapore Swimming Proficiency Award (SSPA)
An initiative by Singapore Swimming Association to promote swimming proficiency. SSPA provices progression for swimming after SwimSafer. It is an award structure based on the swimer's ability to swim the 4 strokes in compliance with FINA rules for competitive swimming.
Up to 16 years old
High intensity training, optimize technique, speed, strength, power and endurance.
Duration - Up to 36 Months
This programme is open to interested parties aged nine and above.
The aim is for individuals to achieve lifesaving skills. Programme is conducted by the Singapore Lifesaving Society ("SLSS"). Successful completion will be awarded a certification endorsed by the Singapore Lifesaving Society.
▲ All students are advised against over-eating and drinking, at least an hour before commencement of lesson.
▲ Never leave your child unattended before, during and after his/her swimming lessons (in case of any emergencies/toilet breaks).
▲ Ensure that your child understands the danger of water and follows basic water safety tips:
▲ Coaches of FINS reserve the rights to stop student from attending lesson where student are beyond control such as displaying unruly behaviour, and any frivalous play which may potentially cause danger to self or others. Student will be asked to leave the pool to be on dry land.
