Appreciating NSmen Art Jam 2023
The Appreciating NSmen Art Jam is a joint initiative between SAFRA and the Association of Early Childhood and Training Services (ASSETS) to promote a greater appreciation among preschool children for the important role that NSmen play in national defence and security.
As part of the initiative, preschools are encouraged to incorporate a special segment into their curriculum to engage preschool children in NS-inspired arts and crafts activities.
Preschools are recommended to conduct the session from 27 June to 14 July 2023.
Learning more about National Service and making an appreciation gift
As part of the initiative, preschool children will be able to learn more about NS where they will be encouraged to find out more about their father’s NS experience prior to the session.
During the art jam session, they will have the opportunity to make personalised pop-up appreciation cards for their fathers by using various templates to colour, cut, fold and glue together. These are customisable to the six Services (Singapore Army, Republic of Singapore Navy, Republic of Singapore Air Force, Digital & Intelligence Service, Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force) and they will be able to pen their personalised appreciation message on the cards.
There is a base template and also figurine templates depicting an NSman as well as a male and a female figurine, which can be mixed and matched to represent the NSman father/family member and preschooler.
