Titoudao was written and directed by acclaimed playwright & director, Goh Boon Teck. It is based on the tumultuous and inspiring life story of his mother, Mdm. Oon Ah Chiam; her gripping life story of devotion to her craft of Wayang (Chinese Street Opera), and how it is dying in the face of the fast-growing nation of Singapore.

First written and staged in 1994, Titoudao has since seen a total of 6 restagings locally and internationally - it toured to Cairo, Egypt in 1994, and made its round across Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing in 2000. Upon its successful sold-out run in 2015, Titoudao was picked up to be adapted as a full 13 Episodes TV Series in 2021 - and has since then been picked up and made available on streaming giants by the likes of Netflix and HBOGO. The roaring success of the TV series won itself a couple of awards internationally, and inevitably birthed a much anticipated second season in March 2023.
