Nanyang coffee, also known as "kopi" in our local dialect, has a rich heritage deeply rooted in the cultural tapestry of Singapore.  The story of Nanyang coffee begins during the era of maritime trade routes that connected China with the Malay Archipelago. Chinese immigrants travelled to Nanyang ("South Seas" in Mandarin) seeking better opportunities. These migrants brought with them their culinary traditions, including the art of coffee roasting and brewing, which evolved over generations to create what is now known as Nanyang coffee.

Embracing tradition, 聚味- 老南洋 prepares our coffee using beans roasted slowly over charcoal fire, a method that imparts a distinct smoky flavor and aroma to the brew. The coffee powder is then strained in a flannel sock filter and sweetened with condensed milk or sugar.  Nanyang coffee is often enjoyed alongside traditional confectionery and food, such as kaya toast, soft boiled eggs or egg tarts, further enriching the Nanyang experience.

聚味- 老南洋nestled in the Clarke Quay area, invites you to gather, celebrate, and indulge in the vibrant flavours of Nanyang cuisine.  Whether you're reminiscing about a bygone era rich in culinary heritage, toasting to new beginnings, or simply savouring a perfectly brewed cup of traditional coffee, 聚味- 老南洋 invites you to celebrate the joy of coming together.
